June 2019 Newsletter

The big Powder River County Centennial Celebration is almost here and the days are packed with activities and events!  If you haven’t registered yet, go to www.prscdc.com before June 28th to be entered in the cash prize drawing for $250! Entries after June 28th are entered in a drawing for $100! But remember, you must check in at the registration tables in the courthouse lobby on July 4th or 5th to be eligible to win.  Our Chamber board members will be there with raffle tickets for the “Prairie Wind” quilt and Beyond Echoing Footsteps books on sale for a special Centennial discount rate of $50 each.

Also in the courthouse lobby, you’ll find the silent auction table and we hope you’ll consider donating something to help us raise funds for this fun weekend.  All items accepted, but something unique, artistic, and/or delicious is encouraged. Drop items off in the courthouse on Thursday, July 4 at 9am or in advance with Jessica at Gardner & Billing CPAs or Kelda at the Extension Office.

We’re thrilled that the venerable Virginia Robinson will be leading the centennial parade as the Grand Marshall this year!  Join us in honoring this incredible lady at 10am on July 4th as she rounds the courthouse square.  We encourage all entries to the parade including floats, vehicles, and animals of every shape and size!  No pre-registration is required; just join the line up at 9am at the high school.

And of course, it wouldn’t be the 4th of July without a fireworks display, so please help us express our thanks to Phil Desatoff for executing the show, the Broadus Volunteer Fire Department for keeping us safe, and our fireworks sponsors SCDC, Hi-Tech Auto, Denbury, Copps Hardware, The Corner Store, John & Julie Riley, TD Montana Enterprises, Tom & Judy Collins and the umbrella at IGA.

Wishing you all a safe and happy Independence Day!
